Report: Another club now really want Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea deal not yet done

Chelsea could still face competition from Real Madrid to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, according to reports.

All the speculation in the media during the past couple of weeks has pointed towards Mauricio Pochettino, 51, becoming the next permanent head coach at Stamford Bridge next season.

There’s still been no official announcement from the Blues regarding his appointment. However, journalist Dean Jones has reported on GiveMeSport that Chelsea could appoint Pochettino as their new manager by the end of this week.

Now, fresh rumours suggests Pochettino to Chelsea is still not wrapped up.

According to Miguel Delaney’s newsletter for The Independent , Chelsea have still not completed the deal for Pochettino, but it’s been described as “close”.

It is understood that the Blues hierarchy have been keen to take their time on this next appointment. There could be an urgency to get it concluded soon, though.

The report claims that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez views Pochettino as his “top choice” to become the new manager at the Bernabeu. This is because current Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti may be let go at the end of the season.

We can’t bare another twist in Chelsea’s hunt for a new manager.

We’ve come to terms that Pochettino will be in the dugout next season, with various reports circulating about what he’s got planned for the squad.

Tuttosport claimed this week that Inter Milan have eyes on Pochettino to replace Simone Inzaghi in the summer.

It would be nice if Chelsea’s board could put the club’s supporters out of their misery and get the 51-year-old coach announced as soon as possible.

Of course, negotiations are not always going to be straightforward. It does seem from the outside like there’s quite a long delay for no reason.
