Thiago Silva’s wife, Belle Silva, took to Twitter last night to say how much better Chelsea would be if they had the Brazilian in their midfield and attack too.

The Blues fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of local rivals Fulham, piling more misery on manager Graham Potter.

The 38-year-old has been one of the shining lights of the side that have endured a horrific run of form in domestic football.

He has frequently shown his class in an attempt to try and bring some sort of stability and composure to a backline that has lacked it completely in recent months.

Last night, he was joined in a back three by Kalidou Koulibaly and Trevoh Chalobah.

However, the pair can certainly be looked at for a number of errors throughout the game, despite the Senegal international finding the net early in the second half.

Ahead of the defence though, there was more fragility in the midfield. The type that would suggest Todd Boehly may continue to look to invest this month.

There was also no clinical edge to the Blues’ attack, despite Joao Felix impressing before being sent off on his debut.

The incompetence going forwards led to Belle Silva taking to Twitter to praise her husband, as she dreamed of having a player of his quality in every position on the pitch.

She said: “If there was a Thiago Silva in attack and one in midfield, with what we already have in defence…”

The Blues have been strongly linked with strengthening in midfield this month, with reports linking them to signing Brighton man Moises Caicedo.

Their efforts may now be accelerated after seeing Denis Zakaria, another of the few bright spots since the World Cup break, was added to the mounting injury list last night.
