It turns out that Levi Colwill was spot on when he made a bold prediction about one Chelsea teammate over a year ago.
Levi Colwill, 21, claimed that a Chelsea player would grow into one of the Premier League’s very best in his position. If you reflect on that now, it already looks like the truth.
As for Colwill, the central defender is impressing as an ever-present in the Blues backline. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca considers Colwill undroppable from the starting line-up right now.

What Levi Colwill said about Moises Caicedo when he signed
Back in August 2023, Colwill was ecstatic when Chelsea completed the signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton. It came after the pair previously played together at the Amex Stadium.
Colwill insisted that Caicedo was worth his £115m transfer cost and that he would become one of the elite midfielders in the sport.
When discussing Caicedo’s transfer to Chelsea in the 2023 summer transfer window, Colwill told talkSPORT: “In my opinion, he was worth every pound that was spent on him. “I think he is going to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and the world. I don’t doubt that.”
Despite a slow start to his career at Stamford Bridge, Caicedo is now operating somewhere near his best and bossing things in the centre of the park.
The 23-year-old ace has formed a great partnership alongside Romeo Lavia in the Blues midfield this season.
Lavia has called Chelsea teammate Caicedo an “amazing” player with so much individual talent.
Moises Caicedo one of the Premier League’s best midfielders
Caicedo is now consistently performing at such a high level for Chelsea, so he’s getting the plaudits that he deserves.
Based on current form, Adrian Clarke thinks Caicedo is the Premier League’s best central midfielder.
Here is a look at some the Chelsea star’s statistics this season:
| Appearances | Goals | Assists | Pass accuracy | Tackles won | Interceptions | Average rating |
| 11 | 1 | 2 | 88.4% | 25 | 18 | 7.54 |
Like Colwill predicted, Caicedo is now a midfield force in the Premier League. There’s definitely shades of N’Golo Kante about his game with the all-round package on the football pitch, so let’s see if he can keep up the consitency for the entire season.
