If before the Premier League season got underway you were asked to name a player who had started all of Chelsea’s first 14 games, few would have said Thiago Silva.

It is a testament to the 39-year-old’s ability to recover and his fitness that he has been an ever-present from the beginning for the Blues under Mauricio Pochettino.

Injuries at the back have not been too kind to the Blues this season, and therefore his availability has been leaned on more than many would have liked.

Wesley Fofana is still set to miss a number more months of action due to his serious knee injury over the summer.

Only recently has Benoit Badiashile returned to the starting line-up for Chelsea, with him making two Premier League starts alongside Silva up to now.

It has now emerged that the Brazilian has done something this season that no other player who has started every game has done so.

Thiago Silva record

According to WhoScored, he is the only one of those players to have not yet been dispossessed in possession.

In a side that completely lacks experience at the top level, Silva has frequently stepped up to the required standard in big moments to help the side out.

His performance last weekend against Brighton was imperious, as the Blues played more than 45 minutes down to 10 men.

He picked up plenty of praise for his display, with goalscorer on the day Enzo Fernandez taking to social media to praise him.

Despite them playing just three days ago, it is still likely he starts again tonight as they return to action tonight at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
