‘I know’: Kai Havertz says his 27-year-old Chelsea teammate is so good at passing after Bournemouth game

Chelsea’s Kai Havertz has praised Raheem Sterling in his post-match interview with Prime Video.

The Germany international was on the end of a fantastic assist by the winger to open the scoring for the Blues last night against Bournemouth.

Chelsea eventually ran out comfortable 2-0 winners, after Havertz set up Mason Mount to sensationally double the hosts’ lead in the first half.

A goal and assist was the perfect return to football for the 23-year-old, who will no doubt have been desperate to get back on the pitch after the World Cup.

Despite two goals in the group stages from the Blues man, it wasn’t enough for Germany to advance to the knockout stages.

Graham Potter handed him the start up front last night against the Cherries over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, in the absence of the injured Armando Broja.

Havertz praises Sterling

He repaid the manager’s faith with his early goal, although he has a lot to thank Sterling for.

The Englishman picked out a sublime low cross to make it unmissable chance for Havertz, easing a few nerves around Stamford Bridge in the process.

After the game, the forward was quick to praise Sterling, claiming he is fully aware of his abilities in those areas.

He said: “I know what kind of vision Raheem has, he loves to place these balls, it was perfectly timed, I’m happy to score.”

Both Havertz and Sterling will surely have done enough to keep their place in the attack as the Blues prepare for the New Year’s Day clash with Nottingham Forest.

With the amount of sides in the chase for the top four, victories in games against sides below them in the table will require nothing other than a win, as they look to make up for the disappointing start to the campaign.
