Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed on Twitter that Chelsea are now ready to bid more than £65m to sign Moises Caicedo this month.
The Blues have already enjoyed a prolific January transfer window so far in the second opportunity to buy since Todd Boehly took over.
The club have already added Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos this month, however they have not shied away from big name and big money acquisitions.

They secured a loan deal to bring in Joao Felix for the rest of the season, and he has already impressed in his first performance for the club despite the red card which came in the second half.
Over the weekend, the club used the match against Crystal Palace to announce their latest big money signing of Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Blues at one point looked certain to come out second best to London rivals Arsenal in a race to sign the highly-rated winger.
Chelsea ready to bid for Caicedo
Now, Jacobs has claimed they are seriously considering a bid this month to sign Caicedo from Brighton.
He said: “Chelsea are actively exploring signing Moises Caicedo.
“Although Brighton maintain no offers yet, told Chelsea are prepared to pay £65m+. Brighton would expect £75m+ to consider a January sale.”

The Blues have already made a big attempt to strengthen in this position in January, although their efforts to bring in Enzo Fernandez eventually fell short.
It has been widely reported that Chelsea are resigned to losing Jorginho at the end of the season when his contract expires.
There is an expectation that fellow midfielder N’golo Kante will sign a new deal. However, reports have claimed that there is a thought that the signing of Caicedo is being pushed for with the intention of finding a long-term replacement for the Frenchman.
