Crystal Palace are now trying to steal another target from Chelsea in Elye Wahi after seemingly beating the Blues to Matheus Franca.

That is according to L’Equipe in France.

So, what is the latest on Elye Wahi as Crystal Palace make a move for the Chelsea target? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, Chelsea seemed to be all set to sign the France Under-21 international from Montpellier.

A story from Tutto Mercato Web claimed that Chelsea hoped to have Wahi signed this week after making a £35m bid for the 20-year-old, and negotiations were said to be progressing well.

Now – however – a number of competitors have emerged amid a fresh story from RMC Sport, who state that the Montpellier No.21 is not too keen on Chelsea’s plan to loan him straight out to Strasbourg.

L’Equipe believe Crystal Palace have made an offer for Wahi, while Atlético Madrid have as well.

The French news outlet add that PSG are also interested in beating Chelsea to Wahi’s signature.

Is lightning about to strike twice for Chelsea as Crystal Palace target Wahi?

On the basis of a number of reports, the situations involving Wahi and Franca seem very similar.

A story from Torcedores in Brazil claims that Chelsea are now out of the race to sign Franca from Flamengo, as he wanted to play in the Premier League immediately rather than move to Strasbourg on loan.

The Brazilian news outlet believe Crystal Palace have now agreed a €30m (£26m) deal for the 19-year-old.

Wahi – as aforesaid – is also not sure about moving to Strasbourg, with L’Equipe claiming that the idea of playing Premier League football immediately interests him.

Therefore, Crystal Palace could now pinch both Franca and Wahi from Chelsea for the exact same reason – neither of the precocious strikers see themselves at Strasbourg next season.
