Chelsea have had a rather quiet winter so far after their recent big-spending windows, but here are three transfers that Mauricio Pochettino could still agree on deadline day.
The Blues have broken the bank time and time again since Todd Boehly led his consortium in becoming Chelsea’s owners in 2022. No club rivalled the Stamford Bridge outfit’s spending. But the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) have limited their winter plans.
Deadline day last winter saw Enzo Fernandez arrive in west London in a British record switch from SL Benfica. His arrival also preceded Chelsea spending further riches in the summer for Moises Caicedo. But the Blues have not secured moves akin to Mykhailo Mudryk this winter.

Not yet, at least, as Chelsea can still dip their toes in the winter market and strike a deadline day transfer before the window slams shut. Pochettino has so far only seen players return to west London from loan deals and leave for temporary transfers over the mid-season market.
The Argentine has a shortlist of viable last-gasp targets, nonetheless, in case the Blues raise enough funds for late captures. So, with that in mind, The Chelsea Chronicle takes a look at three transfers manager Pochettino can agree on deadline day for the winter 2024 window.
Chelsea are interested in the transfer of Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran

Aston Villa star Jhon Duran remains a last-ditch transfer target for Chelsea entering deadline day. The Daily Mail reports that the Blues are still considering a deal to sign the striker. Even though he is now facing up to 10 weeks on the sidelines after developing a hamstring injury.
Chelsea are desperate to add a new option to Pochettino’s attack and expressed an interest in Duran’s transfer. Aston Villa were also open to negotiating his transfer prior to their £18m signing’s injury. West Ham United have also contacted the Villans to discuss Duran’s transfer.
The Irons hoped to sign Duran in a loan-to-buy deal but the Birmingham natives showed no interest in their arrangement. Duran has hardly set the world alight since joining Aston Villa from Chicago Fire in January 2023, either. He has just four goals in 35 games for Unai Emery.
Only two of Duran’s goals in claret-and-blue have also come from his 26 appearances in the Premier League to date. The 20-year-old has also laid on just one assist during 295 minutes of English top-flight football. Emery is still yet to start Duran in a single league fixture so far.
Fulham and Wolves fight for Armando Broja’s transfer from Chelsea

Deadline day for the winter 2024 window is highly likely to be about outbound transfers at Chelsea, and especially for Armando Broja. According to The Express & Star, the Blues have rejected a loan approach from Wolves for the Albanian. But they remain in talks for a deal.
Chelsea want an obligation for Wolves to buy Broja to sanction a loan transfer as the Blues would prefer to sell him on deadline day. The west London natives value Broja at £50m but may accept offers of £30m. Wolves are also not the only squad interested in signing Broja.
According to Jacob Steinberg, Fulham are also pushing for a last-ditch transfer for Broja. Yet the Cottagers hope to strike a loan deal with an option to buy. Fulham may also need Carlos Vinicius to leave before they can get Broja, who has a contract at the Bridge until June 2028.
West London rivals Fulham also target Trevoh Chalobah’s transfer

West London rivals Fulham are also chasing a last-ditch transfer from Chelsea for centre-half Trevoh Chalobah. According to Rudy Galetti, Cottagers boss Marco Silva is a huge fan of the sought-after outcast. The Blues are also open to letting Chalobah move in a permanent deal.
Talks between Chelsea and Fulham over Chalobah’s transfer can even see Antonee Robinson move to Stamford Bridge. The Blues asked for extra information regarding the USA left-back after the Cottagers’ first approach for Chalobah. A swap deal for the two players is possible.
Robinson is an essential part of Silva’s plans in west London but Chelsea’s interest could see Fulham secure Chalobah’s transfer. The 26-year-old has started all 21 of his Premier League appearances so far this season. He is also under contract at Craven Cottage to June 2028.
