German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen this month.
Ian Maatsen, 21, is strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window.
The Blues youngster has mainly been used as a substitute during 15 appearances so far this season, which is why it’s no great surprise that he’s tipped for a potential exit.
Football.London recently claimed that Chelsea are now determined to sell Maatsen in January. The left-back’s expected to try complete a move away from West London, too.

Bild has claimed this week that Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund have entered advanced talks to sign Maatsen from Chelsea.
It is explained that the Blues defender is worth around €20million (£17million) in the current market.
The report has said that Maatsen could replace Dortmund left-back Ramy Bensebaini in the starting line-up while he plays in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Talks for Ian Maatsen
We’re a little disappointed with how Maatsen’s been dealt with in the first half of the season. Therefore, we wouldn’t blame him for moving on during this New Year.
Despite being a quality left-back by trade, Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino has preferred to use him sparingly further up the pitch as a winger. It’s bizarre that we’ve rarely seen him at left-back at a time when there’s been injuries to both Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella at Stamford Bridge.
It wouldn’t surprise us if Chelsea’s young talent moves to Germany and fits in well with Dortmund.
Elsewhere, Soccer News reported that Dutch giants Ajax are keeping a close eye on Maatsen and consider him to be an ideal signing for them.
This very much feels like another exciting young player that will get away from Chelsea. Hopefully, it doesn’t come back to bite us in a similar way to previous sales.
Finally, any buyer club should consider Maatsen a potential bargain for any transfer fee under the £20m mark.
