It has been quite a quiet transfer window for both Chelsea and their London rivals Arsenal so far.

While Chelsea have recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace, the Blues are yet to buy anyone.

As for Arsenal, they have not signed anyone either with not too long to go before the transfer market closes.

However, Arsenal and Chelsea could make some serious moves in the coming days. Chelsea have been heavily linked with Alejandro Garnacho, for example.

Arsenal frontrunners to sign Wolves’ Matheus Cunha

Another player who has seemed to caught Chelsea’s attention is Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha.

At the start of the month, it was reported that Chelsea are interested in Cunha. However, they do not appear to be at the front of the queue for his signature.

According to GiveMeSport, while the Blues do have the 25-year-old on their radar, it is Arsenal who are currently leading the race to sign him.

Whoever ends up signing Cunha this month if he does depart Molineux will have to pay a lot of money. Wolves want in excess of £80m for their talisman, journalist Ben Jacobs has shared on X.

He is their star player, with former Manchester City defender Micah Richards describing his football IQ as “sensational” on BBC Match of the Day last year.

How did Matheus Cunha perform against Chelsea on Monday?

Cunha recently came up against Chelsea, playing in Wolves’ 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

The Brazilian did not score, with defender Matt Doherty being the man to grab the visitors’ only goal, but he still carried a bit of a threat.

Cunha finished the match having managed to register one shot on target and one key pass. It was not his best game, but it was a fixture that Chelsea absolutely dominated for the most part. The Brazil international ultimately did what he could.

Overall, he has had a good campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 21 Premier League appearances for Wolves.

That obviously does not make him an £80m player. But for a fee lower than that, Chelsea have to put themselves in the conversation this month.
