A very interesting opportunity could present itself to Chelsea in the winter transfer window.

After a hectic summer, you would not expect Chelsea to get up to too much in January. They strengthened most areas of their squad, bringing in the likes of Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Where the Blues did not improve was up front, but they have survived thanks to the form of Nicolas Jackson. The striker has had his shooting boots on so far this season, scoring six goals in nine Premier League outings.

Chelsea may be tempted to sign a new centre-forward in January, though, amid links with Randal Kolo Muani and others. It has been claimed that Kolo Muani has already been offered to Chelsea.

PSG ready to sell Randal Kolo Muani in cut-price deal

Paris Saint-Germain signed Kolo Muani for big money last year, paying Eintracht Frankfurt £76.4m for his signature.

However, after a difficult time at the Parc des Princes, it looks like PSG have accepted that they are going to make a heavy loss on the 25-year-old.

According to L’Equipe, the French giants could sell Kolo Muani for as little as €40m (£33.2m) in the winter transfer window.

In his debut season at PSG, Kolo Muani managed to make just 13 starts in Ligue 1. Chelsea’s Jackson, in contrast, made 31 in the Premier League.

Right now, Jackson looks “really sharp”, according to Newcastle United defender Dan Burn.

Nicolas Jackson cover

For just over £30m, Kolo Muani could be a good back-up option for Jackson. Of course, looking at his goal record in Germany, Christopher Nkunku is a better one.

The only problem is a forward of Nkunku’s calibre will not want to play deputy forever. Ultimately, if he leaves Chelsea and the Blues want to keep Jackson as their No.1, then it may be worth bringing in Kolo Muani.

Looking at how he has performed at PSG, Kolo Muani would not be an upgrade on the 23-year-old. But the France international would not be the worst cover option.

“They [Kolo Muani and Marcus Thuram] are complete,” Antoine Griezmann was quoted as saying by FC Inter News last year.
