Chelsea could decide to bring in a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window.

According to 90min, if Robert Sanchez‘s form dips over the next few weeks, Chelsea could end up targeting a shot-stopper when the market opens.

The Blues only signed the 26-year-old from Brighton & Hove Albion in a £25m deal (BBC Sport) in the summer and he has impressed at times.

He made a double save in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, which Rangers legend Ally McCoist described as “incredible”.

However, there have been some unconvincing moments as well, with Sanchez kicking the ball straight to Declan Rice before he scored to start Arsenal’s comeback in a 2-2 draw between the Gunners and Chelsea in October.

Which goalkeepers could Chelsea target?

Chelsea have been heavily linked with AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, so that is one player who they could go after if Mauricio Pochettino does decide he wants a new shot-stopper.

However, Maignan is such an important member of Milan’s squad and is a top goalkeeper. The Italian club will not want to sell him, especially in the middle of the season.

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale is probably a much more attainable target and there has also been speculation about Chelsea being interested in him.

The England international is not playing for Mikel Arteta’s side right now after losing his place to David Raya. With the Euros coming up, he will want game time and may push for a move, which could be good news for Chelsea.

The above are just a couple of names the Blues could consider next month if they want to sign a new goalkeeper. However, Sanchez has probably done enough to finish the season as the team’s No.1. It would be harsh if he maintained his form into January and then was replaced by somebody else.
