Chelsea discuss signing Premier League player they value the same as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Chelsea have been in talks with one Premier League club about signing their talented attacker. As we’ve already seen this summer, the Blues are prepared to conduct transfer business with their league rivals.

Enzo Maresca’s side have already sold several players this summer to Premier League teams, including both Noni Madueke and Kepa Arrizabalaga to Arsenal. Incidentally, Chelsea and Arsenal are both pleased with Madueke’s £48.5m deal.

It’s certainly a bonus signing players with experience in England’s top divisions. For example, Joao Pedro looks like he will be a great fit at Stamford Bridge after his arrival from Brighton.

Chelsea don’t want to pay more than £30m for Alejandro Garnacho

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, 21, has been heavily linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer. In fact, Chelsea have been looking into Garnacho’s character to see if he could be a good fit for them.

According to The Independent, Man Utd have spoken to Chelsea about Garnacho, which included the idea of Blues striker Nicolas Jackson going in the opposite direction to Old Trafford.

The report claims that the Blues have long-standing interest in Garnacho, but their valuation of the player is a ‘main obstacle’ to overcome. Apparently, Chelsea value Jackson at around £80m, but they don’t want to pay more than £30m for Garnacho.

Back in June, Chelsea compiled a three-man shortlist for the left wing, which consisted of Garnacho, Jamie Gittens, and Nico Williams. The Blues have already signed Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, while Williams penned a contract extension at Athletic Bilbao.

Garnacho is an intriguing target for Chelsea with a lot of Premier League experience, but we’re not convinced he’s needed in the squad for next season.

Alejandro Garnacho valued the same as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

The fact that Chelsea value Garnacho at £30m is quite baffling when you highlight that the Blues paid £30m (Sky Sports) to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City a year ago.

Dewsbury-Hall, 26, played his role in Maresca’s group last season as a squad player, scoring five goals in 36 games across all competitions from central midfield. Apparently, Chelsea could sell Dewsbury-Hall for £30m this summer.

In contrast, Garnacho was one of the rare positives in a poor Man Utd team last season, scoring 11 goals and creating 10 assists in 58 matches across all competitions.

If Chelsea can sign Argentine attacker Garnacho for anywhere close to £30m, it would be worth the gamble. Instead, Man Utd should definitely be holding out for a large cash windfall for a skilful winger with a lot of potential and ability.
