Fresh transfer speculation has named Chelsea as the frontrunners in the race to sign a talented winger this summer.

Even though there are a number of quality options at Chelsea to play in the wide areas, it looks like they could be in the market to add another winger.

The Blues squad already includes wide options such as Jadon Sancho, Tyrique George, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto. On top of that, 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian will join Chelsea’s first-team squad for the 2025/26 campaign.

Chelsea emerge as favourites to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens, his transfer fee has been slashed in half

Journalist Christian Falk has reported via CaughtOffside that Chelsea appear to be the clear favourites to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens this summer.

It is explained that the Blues have the best chance of signing the 20-year-old Bundesliga winger. The young Englishman is dreaming of a move to play in the Premier League, too.

Apparently, Dortmund have already slashed the player’s valuation from €100m (£86m) to €50m (£43m) because he doesn’t fit into Niko Kovac’s system.

For £43m, Gittens looks like he could be an exciting signing for any top club. He’s certainly proven in Dortmund colours that he’s a winger with huge potential, plus he’s got an eye for goal and possesses superb dribbling.

Gittens has asked to leave Dortmund, and the internal expectation is that he’ll be sold this summer.

In general, he usually plays and excels as a left-winger with his raw pace. We’ve sometimes seen him popping up in central or wide right attacking positions as well.

Chelsea winger Jadon Sancho, 25, shared a dressing room with Gittens when he was on loan at Dortmund for the second half of the 2023/24 season. He’s clearly a big fan of the young talent, too.

Back in September 2024, Sancho described Gittens as a “baller” after one performance in the Champions League. Let’s wait and see if they end up playing together again next season because Sancho’s future is also up in the air.

Even though Dortmund have now been knocked out of the Champions League following a defeat to Barcelona in the quarter-finals, Gittens certainly left his mark on Europe’s elite club competition.

As it stands, Chelsea won’t be competing in next season’s Champions League because they’re sixth in the Premier League table. They’ve got six games remaining to get themselves back up into the top five spots.
