Chelsea have now made contact to sign Mohammed Kudus from Ajax as Mauricio Pochettino aims to bolster his midfield department.

That is according to the Evening Standard.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea and Mohammed Kudus? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to The Athletic – Chelsea started talks to sign the Ghana international on Saturday by initiating contact with Ajax.

Now – however – it sounds as if the Blues have spoken to Kudus himself.

The Evening Standard believe Chelsea have sounded out the Ajax No.20 to see if he would be interested in moving to Stamford Bridge.

While it remains to be seen which club Kudus chooses to join, the article does state that he is keen to leave Amsterdam.

The 22-year-old has worked his way onto Chelsea’s radar after a stunning 2022/23 campaign, in which he scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in 42 appearances.

It speaks volumes that Kudus – described as “truly unique” by The Athletic – was able to achieve this attacking return despite Ajax suffering their worst campaign for some time.

Pochettino has a plan for Kudus at Chelsea

By the sounds of it, Pochettino already knows how he wants to use Kudus in west London.

A story from respected journalist Simon Phillips claimed that the Argentine sees the Ghanaian as Chelsea’s new No.10 following the departure of Mason Mount.

Kudus has shone in that area for Ajax, although he can also operate on the right flank – where he made 17 appearances last season – or even as a striker.

At the age of just 22, the Accra-born forward also has plenty of time to get even better, which makes him an exciting transfer target for Chelsea.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea explore a deal to sign Kudus.
