It’s been a rollercoaster ride so far for Chelsea fans in the summer transfer window, and it sounds like there could still be much drama to follow.
There is a buzz around Chelsea right now, especially after winning the Club World Cup. Can they now capitalise on that with more successful work in the transfer market?
The Blues have already done some great business this summer, including signing both Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, who both played an important role in winning the Club World Cup.
It’s been claimed that any more Chelsea incomings will depend on outgoings for the rest of the window. Apparently, several Chelsea players are currently training at Cobham, and they’re individuals looking to be moved on.

Chelsea enquire about Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly
Manchester City star Nico O’Reilly, 20, is the latest name to be linked with the Blues in the transfer rumour mill.
Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via Substack on Tuesday that Chelsea have made another ‘enquiry’ this week for Man City’s O’Reilly.
It is unclear on what position they would play the versatile English youngster if he joined, though.
O’Reilly, who’s a product of the Man City academy, made his first-team breakthrough at the Etihad Stadium in the 2024/25 season. Even though he’s an attacking midfielder by trade, the left-footed youngster sometimes covered as a defensive midfielder or a left-back to help out.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola clearly loves O’Reilly after bringing him into first-team contention last term.
Back in April, Guardiola hailed the impact of O’Reilly in his squad. He said via BBC Sport: “He’s not really a left-back… He is an attacking midfielder… He has arrived from the academy and is helping us a lot. I am more than grateful. He is taking his opportunity.”

Chelsea tried and failed to get Nico O’Reilly earlier in 2025
At the end of the 2025 January transfer window, Man City knocked back Chelsea’s enquiry for O’Reilly because they didn’t want to lose their highly-rated youngster.
It was claimed that O’Reilly would remain on Chelsea’s radar, so perhaps it’s no surprise to hear fresh links.
In recent times, Chelsea have enjoyed a lot of success with former Man City employees. The likes of Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia and Tosin Adarabioyo were at the Etihad Stadium earlier in their careers before finding their way to West London via different routes.
One of Chelsea’s immediate focuses this summer should be signing a new left-back to provide cover and competition for Cucurella, but we’re not convinced O’Reilly’s long-term future will be at full-back.
