Chelsea believe they could snap up one of their transfer targets this summer for just £40m.

It’s already been a busy window at Chelsea for incomings, and the speculation points towards more arrivals at Stamford Bridge before the summer window shuts.

Apparently, Chelsea discussed signing another attacker and defender straight after the team’s triumph at the Club World Cup tournament.

With Blues head coach Enzo Maresca at the helm, it feels like the squad is in an exciting place going into next season. We suspect the expectation will rise even further with one or two more notable additions, though.

Chelsea believe Alejandro Garnacho may only cost £40m

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, 21, has been linked with a possible move to West London this summer.

Garnacho wants to leave Old Trafford this summer amid interest from clubs such as Chelsea, so let’s wait and see if the Argentine youngster gets a move.

According to The Telegraph, Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has made it clear that Garnacho is one of several players not in his plans moving forward.

Apparently, the exciting attacker was valued between £60m and £70m by Man Utd when he was subject to offers from Chelsea and Napoli in January. Suitors now believe that he could be picked up for around £40m this summer, though.

The report adds that Chelsea, Tottenham, and Aston Villa are all monitoring Garnacho’s situation, which looks unresolvable at Man Utd, and the player’s preference is to continue playing in the Premier League.

Garnacho was one of the few positives for Man Utd in a tough 2024/25 season, scoring 11 goals and creating 10 assists in 58 games across all competitions. However, the rapid wide man can be inconsistent in front of goal.

Chelsea’s three-man shortlist for the left wing this summer included Garnacho, Nico Williams and Jamie Gittens. They’ve already signed Gittens, 20, from Borussia Dortmund this window, so do they really need another option out wide?

What Mauricio Pochettino said about Alejandro Garnacho in 2023

Mauricio Pochettino, the former Chelsea manager, was previously extremely complimentary of Garnacho.

Back in December 2023, Pochettino praised Garnacho via The Evening Standard: “He is an exciting player, young and talented. It’s not surprising to us because we knew about him when he was in Spain before moving to Manchester. It’s good to see a young player being brave and showing the talent that he is showing.”

While we admire Garnacho as an exciting talent, we’re not completely convinced by him as a potential signing to strengthen Chelsea’s group.
