Chelsea are reportedly expected to keep hold of their young prospect beyond today’s transfer deadline day, even though they could be about to sign some more midfielders.
It’s turning out to be quite a hectic finish to the winter window for Chelsea. In particular, there’s plenty of speculation about potential midfield arrivals.
First of all, rumours suggest that Chelsea are close to signing Saint-Etienne midfielder Mathis Amougou.
On top of that, the Blues could also sign Dario Essugo from Sporting Lisbon.
The Chelsea squad could do with midfield reinforcements because of recent injuries and transfers, and it looks like they’re recruiting new faces rather promoting from within.

Chelsea prospect expected to stay at Stamford Bridge
Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has claimed via X on Monday evening that Chelsea prospect Samuel Rak-Sakyi is set to stay at the club beyond deadline day despite links to Coventry City.
Frank Lampard’s Coventry wanted to sign Rak-Sakyi on loan from Chelsea, but it looks like they’ll miss out on the Blues talent.
Rak-Sakyi, who’s developed in the Chelsea academy, is an exciting youngster on the club’s books.
The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is shining in the club’s Under-21s team this campaign, plus he’s made four first-team appearances as well.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is a huge fan of Rak-Sakyi, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can play more in the second half of the season, especially with the possible arrival of new first-team midfielders.

Chelsea have missed a trick
Unless the injury problems worsen, we doubt that Rak-Sakyi will get too many senior opportunities in 2025. Therefore, it could’ve been a great step for the teenager’s development to send him out on loan for the next six months.
The deep-lying midfielder hasn’t experienced a loan move yet in his career, so perhaps it’ll be something that happens further down the line.
Coventry, who’ve won four in a row in the league, are rejuvenated under Lampard’s management as they make a late charge up the table and towards the play-off spots. We’d have loved seeing one or two Chelsea youngsters join him there.
