Chelsea have been one of the busiest clubs in Europe when it comes to making signings in recent transfer windows, so it’ll be interesting to see if that trend continues moving forward.
It’s definitely now a talented and young Chelsea squad that Enzo Maresca has to work with. Does the Blues manager think he needs more pieces for the jigsaw, though?
Chelsea’s owners believe their transfer strategy will pay off. However, fans will hope that the wait won’t be too long because the club’s not won any silverware since 2021.

Chelsea keen on signing Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea remain interested in signing Porto gloveman Diogo Costa.
It is explained that the 25-year-old goalkeeper has been a long-term target for the Blues, so they’re continuing to monitor his impressive performances for Porto.
The report adds that Bayern Munich could provide competition for the Portugal international, while Manchester United are also long-term admirers.
Apparently, Portuguese giants Porto aren’t keen on the idea of selling Costa, so it could take bids in the region of €70m (£59m) to make any deal happen.
Chelsea made an approach to sign Porto keeper Costa in the summer, but he ended up staying put in Portugal. Instead, the Blues signed Filip Jorgensen as an option in net, and he’s the understudy to current number one Robert Sanchez at Stamford Bridge.
How good is Diogo Costa?
In terms of quality young goalkeepers, Costa is one of the best in the business. At the age of 25, he’s already won nine major trophies with Porto. Plus, he’s got 31 senior international caps for Portugal.
The shot-stopper has great reflexes and is extremely consistent. Also, he fits the mould of a modern keeper with real composure when passing out from the back.
Here is a look at Costa’s impressive record in his last few seasons with Porto:
| Season | Appearances | Clean sheets |
| 2024/25 | 13 | 7 |
| 2023/24 | 45 | 17 |
| 2022/23 | 41 | 20 |
| 2021/22 | 43 | 17 |
Costa was open to joining Chelsea back in 2023, but let’s wait and see if that’s still the same moving forward.
During an interview with The Athletic last year, Costa was described as a “very complete goalkeeper” by goalkeeping coach Pedro Pereira. If Chelsea are serious about upgrading their No 1 position, the Porto man should become a priority target.
