Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has ruled out Chelsea signing one player in January.
Chelsea‘s current first-choice goalkeeper is Robert Sanchez, while they brought in Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal in the summer to compete with the 26-year-old.
As a result, Romano says Chelsea will not be signing a new shot-stopper despite Sanchez’s recent mistakes.
He made two costly errors in the Blues’ 4-2 win against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend. Jason Cundy now thinks Sanchez needs replacing.

Chelsea will not sign Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen
Mads Hermansen is a player whom Enzo Maresca knows well after working with the goalkeeper at Leicester City.
Maresca wanted to bring Hermansen to Chelsea, according to former Leicester player Matt Piper, who has described the 24-year-old’s footwork as “wonderful”.
However, Romano says there is no chance of Chelsea making a move for Hermansen in January.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, the Italian journalist said: “Chelsea will not sign goalkeepers in January according to their current plan, so the information concerning Enzo Maresca moving for his Leicester keeper, Mads Hermansen, is false. They already have many in that position with Jorgensen, Sanchez, and also [Mike] Penders for the future.
“So, it’s already set for the goalkeepers future at Chelsea and I’m not aware of negotiations with any other GK in the market so far.”
Chelsea should not sign a new goalkeeper yet
While Sanchez was poor in the Brighton game, he has had some good matches this season.
For example, the Spaniard helped Chelsea to beat Bournemouth 1-0 last month after saving a penalty. He also kept another clean sheet the game after against West Ham United.
The Blues have just signed Jorgensen as well. Before they consider bringing in a new goalkeeper, it is only fair that he gets a chance between the sticks first if Maresca starts to lose trust in Sanchez.
Maresca is not at that stage with his first-choice goalkeeper yet, though, refusing to put the blame on him for the two goals he conceded last time out.
Therefore, Chelsea signing Hermansen or another shot-stopper in January really does seem unlikely. For now, Maresca seems very content with Sanchez.
His teammates also appear to be happy with him. After the West Ham game, central defender Tosin Adarabioyo claimed that Sanchez made life easier for Chelsea’s back four, not harder.
