After failing to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli in the summer, Chelsea continue to be linked with strikers ahead of the January transfer window.
Victor Osimhen is still believed to be on their list. It has been claimed that Osimhen’s entourage are in contact with Chelsea over a potential move in 2025.
There has also been talk about the Blues being interested in Osimhen’s Nigeria teammate Victor Boniface.
Chelsea reportedly had scouts watch Boniface last month during Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-3 win against Wolfsburg.

Chelsea not guaranteed to sign a striker in January
Despite being linked with the likes of Boniface and Osimhen, Fabrizio Romano claims Chelsea are not desperate to sign a new centre-forward in January.
Speaking on The Debrief, the transfer expert said: “In January, I don’t think it’s guaranteed. In this moment, Chelsea are very happy with what they see, very happy also with the balance they see in the dressing room, also in terms of relationships, then the performances on the pitch have been excellent so far. So in this moment, Chelsea are not desperate to bring in a new striker in January.”
Chelsea’s current forwards have been on fire this season. Nicolas Jackson has scored four goals in six Premier League appearances. He has also registered three assists across those games.
As for Christopher Nkunku, the Frenchman recently bagged a hat-trick in the Carabao Cup.
Out of Nkunku and Jackson, Paul Merson says he prefers Jackson, downplaying Nkunku’s hat-trick against League Two side Barrow.
Which striker are Chelsea most likely to sign?
If Chelsea do decide that they want to bring in a new striker in January, then everything is still pointing towards that No.9 being Osimhen.
The links have not gone away since his failed move to Stamford Bridge, while it has been reported that a break clause could see Osimhen become available at the start of the new year.
Osimhen is at Galatasaray on a season-long loan, but the 25-year-old leaving the Turkish club before then has not been ruled out.
If Jackson and Nkunku continue scoring goals, though, then Chelsea may hold off from making a move. Romano says the club are not desperate to sign a new No.9, and looking at some of Jackson and Nkunku’s performances this season, it is not hard to see why.
