Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea now see player they were open to selling as ‘untouchable’

One player at Chelsea has now become “untouchable”, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Before this season started, Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez were probably the only footballers in the squad who were off limits.

Palmer is Chelsea‘s best player, coming up with 40 goal contributions in 45 games for them last season, while Caicedo and Fernandez are the two most expensive signings in the club’s history.

However, it now looks like another player has joined the trio on the untouchable list.

Noni Madueke now ‘untouchable’

According to Romano, Chelsea were open to selling Noni Madueke at one point during the summer.

But after an excellent start to the season, which has seen the winger score a hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers, he is now “untouchable”.

Discussing Madueke on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “There was a moment in the summer transfer window when Chelsea were considering the possibility of selling Noni Madueke.”

He then went on to explain: “The feeling between Maresca and Noni is excellent. There is an internal feeling at Chelsea that Enzo Maresca was already able, together with his staff, to change the mindset of Madueke, so working on that in training. But in the football games, the official games, you can already see how Noni’s performing.

“So Chelsea are super happy with him. This is why at some point in August, they decided to call him untouchable as an important player for this project, and now he’s considered a really important player for Chelsea.”

After watching him in training and during actual matches, Chelsea now believe Madueke is special.

Mykhailo Mudryk is the winger Chelsea should consider selling

Now that Madueke is unavailable for transfer, if Chelsea are planning to offload a winger to reduce the size of their squad or to make some money, then Mykhailo Mudryk should be sold.

He has fallen down the pecking order following the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto and now looks unlikely to get into Maresca‘s starting XI.

Given his struggles in west London, Chelsea would probably make a big loss on Mudryk, so they may not be open to a sale just yet.

Rather, it has been claimed that Chelsea could loan Mudryk to another club, which could be ideal. He could perhaps find some form there and then bring it back to Stamford Bridge with him.

However, if the club’s owners are prepared to make a loss on the Ukraine international, then now could be the right time to move him on while Maresca focuses on the likes of Madueke and Sancho.
