All the transfer speculation points to Chelsea edging closer to making another signing this summer.
The Blues have been heavily linked with Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, 19, across recent weeks.
If he arrives at Stamford Bridge, the teenage left-back will provide some much-needed competition for Marc Cucurella in the squad. The Netherlands international can also cover as a centre-back, too.
Even though Chelsea have been competing with Liverpool for Hato, it’s always looked like they have had the upper hand in this summer race.
Chelsea contacted Ajax this week about Hato, and there has now been a major development in the potential transfer.

Jorrel Hato asks to leave Ajax after agreeing Chelsea terms
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports via X on Wednesday night that Chelsea and Hato have now reached an agreement on personal terms.
Apparently, the 19-year-old rising star has now asked “informed” Dutch giants Ajax that he wants to leave to pursue a move to West London.
Romano adds that Chelsea and Ajax are now in the “final stages” of agreeing terms for a transfer, which could be worth around €40m (£35m).
It was reported in July 2024 that Chelsea massively admired Hato, who’s a product of the Ajax academy, so his potential arrival this summer is something that has been on the club’s radar for quite a while.

Jorrel Hato is perfect replacement for Renato Veiga
Renato Veiga, 21, is strongly tipped to be leaving Chelsea this summer. The fact that he excels as a central defender and left-back means his exit creates a considerable hole in Enzo Maresca’s squad, too.
Reports claim that Veiga is close to joining Atletico Madrid as the Blues prioritise selling the versatile player in this summer window.
On paper, Hato is the perfect like-for-like replacement, someone who can plug several holes in the Chelsea team next year. Also, he definitely fits the Blues transfer policy as a very exciting young talent with incredible potential to develop into something quite special.
