Chelsea’s chances of signing one player whom they have been linked with may have just been boosted.
Scoring goals has not actually been a problem for Chelsea this season, with Enzo Maresca’s men being the third-highest scorers in the Premier League
However, the Blues are still thought to be interested in signing a new striker after missing out on Victor Osimhen in the summer.
Chelsea could go toe-to-toe with Juventus for Jonathan David, while Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres is another option for the club.

Viktor Gyokeres could join Premier League club
It would not be a surprise if Chelsea ended up making a move for Gyokeres. Right now, the Sporting talisman is one of the best centre-forwards in the world, perhaps even the best.
This season, he has already scored 23 goals in just 17 appearances, recently bagging a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League.
Chelsea scouted Gyokeres in another Champions League tie, so he is someone who definitely seems to be on their radar.
And according to TBR, while the 26-year-old is in no hurry to pick his next club, it is becoming increasingly likely that he will move to England.
Regarding how much he could cost, Gyokeres leaving Sporting in a £58m deal hasn’t been ruled out.
Which other Premier League clubs could make a move for Viktor Gyokeres?
With his current boss Ruben Amorim set to take over at Manchester United, Gyokeres is going to be linked to the Red Devils.
Arsenal are probably in need of a new striker as well if they want to overtake City as the best team in the country.
While former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has not done a bad job at the Emirates, coming up with 20 goal contributions in the Premier League last season, Mikel Arteta may require someone more prolific than the German.
Whoever manages to snap up Gyokeres will be getting a top footballer. “He is a great player,” former Portugal defender Jorge Andrade told beIN SPORTS when discussing the Sweden international.
