Chelsea are offering higher wages than Liverpool to Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

That is according to Jacob Steinberg.

Steinberg, who’s a journalist for The Guardian, has provided an update regarding the wages on offer to Moises Caicedo.

“Caicedo and his agent still in London. I’m told Chelsea are offering more in wages but no new bid yet,” Steinberg wrote on Twitter.

This comes on a crazy Friday when the transfer race to sign the Brighton midfielder has taken yet another wild turn.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter this lunchtime that Caicedo has informed Liverpool he only wants to join Chelsea this summer. Apparently, the Blues are now preparing a new offer to try secure the deal that brings the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

It seemed just hours earlier on Friday morning like the Brighton man was heading for Merseyside. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have clawed themselves back into the race thanks to the player himself, though.

The Athletic previously reported that Liverpool have agreed a £110million deal with Brighton for Caicedo, which is more than the £100million Chelsea offer.

Now, The Independent updates that Chelsea insiders are confident they can still sign Caicedo.

Regardless of the final outcome, Brighton have played a blinder to squeeze every penny out of the defensive midfielder’s imminent sale.

There’s going to be massive pressure on his shoulders to excel at Chelsea or Liverpool.

We’ve seen the youngster is already one of the division’s top midfielders, though, which is why there’s been a mad dash to get him.
