Journalist Luis Rojo has claimed that Chelsea midfielder Jorginho offered his services to Barcelona over the last week.

The Italian is frequently subject to transfer speculation, being a popular figure to European sides since his arrival at Chelsea.

He was the subject of interest from Serie A over the summer, however no move came to fruition for the Champions League and European Championship winner.

The Blues made a number of efforts to strengthen their midfield over the summer, with the target of Frenkie de Jong being widely reported.

It had been claimed they were in a better position than fellow interested party Manchester United to make the signing, with them being able to offer Champions League football.

However, the Dutchman got his wish to stay at the Nou Camp, with his salary situation still yet to be compromised.

They attempted the deadline day permanent signing of Edson Alvarez from Ajax, with the player extremely keen to join the club.

However, the Blues didn’t have the time to get it done, although reports claim they will be back for the Mexican.

They may be required to more so if Jorginho moves away from the club, with Rojo claiming he’s already attempted to join Xavi’s project at Barcelona.

He said: “Jorginho offered himself to Barcelona a few days ago, but the Barça club is not considering his signing.”

With the reports that N’golo Kante is currently unwilling to sign a new contract at the club based on the current terms offered to him, the midfield situation may need addressing pretty instantly by Todd Boehly.

Early rumours have linked the Blues with young midfielder Moises Caicedo, with Graham Potter having worked with him before.

With the Brighton man claiming recently that Chelsea are a club he would dream of moving to, the deal could be a successful move for both parties.
