West Ham are now in talks to sign Mohammed Kudus from Ajax – after Chelsea also held discussions about the Ghana international.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea target Mohammed Kudus? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, it was Romano who revealed that Chelsea are keen to sign the Ajax No.20 this summer.

The reliable Italian journalist claimed that the Blues have spoken to people close to Kudus about bringing him to Stamford Bridge, while the Evening Standard added that Chelsea also held talks with the Ghanaian himself.

Now – however – West Ham are looking to muscle in.

Romano believes the east Londoners have held positive talks with the representatives of Kudus as the Hammers prepare for life without Lucas Paqueta, who is wanted by Manchester City.

The 23-year-old is said to be open to joining West Ham, although the Irons are yet to approach Ajax as they wait to see what happens with Paqueta.

Kudus has found himself on the radar of Chelsea and West Ham following a superb 2022/23 campaign, in which he scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in 42 appearances.

West Ham and Chelsea must not forget about Brighton in Kudus battle

There is another Premier League side pushing hard to sign Kudus – Brighton. However, their pursuit hangs in the balance after some odd developments.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Brighton agreed a £35m deal with Ajax for the versatile attacker.

However – as detailed by Voetbal International – Kudus is struggling to agree personal terms with Brighton despite a £35m fee being finalised between both sides.

By the sounds of it, the Accra-born forward simply doesn’t want to join Brighton.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea must fend off two Premier League rivals who can offer European football if they are to sign Kudus this summer.
