Reports have claimed that Chelsea would run into no issues if they chose to sign Memphis Depay from Barcelona this January.
According to The Athletic, the fact that the La Liga side are short of cash in the current climate means they will not be in a position to reject a meaningful offer from the Blues.
They may be required to enter the market earlier than they would have hoped for attacking reinforcements, given the recent injury suffered by Armando Broja in a friendly yesterday.

The Albanian international was forced off the pitch on a stretcher after suffering a knee injury against Aston Villa in Abu Dhabi.
While there is no news as to the extent of the damage yet, the fact he left the stadium on crutches suggests he could be set for a long spell on the sidelines.
This leaves just Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz as recognised options to start in the striker position going forwards.
Chelsea could sign Depay
This could see the club enter the transfer market in a few weeks’ time to plug the gap until they can sign better players in the summer.
Christopher Nkunku is likely to join the Blues, although it may not be until the end of the season that RB Leipzig let him go.
They may try to sign Depay after a strong World Cup. The Athletic have claimed that a deal is extremely possible if they want to make it happen.

Todd Boehly reportedly held an interest in signing the Netherlands international over the summer, however instead they ended up signing his former teammate, Aubameyang.
At the World Cup, Netherlands looked relatively toothless in attack until the Barcelona man was brought in, with him seeming to be able to be the figure that linked everything together on their way to a quarter-final.
He has gained a lot of pressure for the international team too. Former and potentially future manager Ronald Koeman described him as ‘fantastic’.
