Chelsea have long been working on a possible deal for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who could be on Mauricio Pochettino’s summer wish list, according to reports.
Similar to a recent report from talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, 90min also claims that Pochettino is understood to feel that Chelsea are just a handful of signings away from competing for the Premier League title.
Given Chelsea’s disastrous goalscoring record this season, it is no surprise that a new striker is expected to be on the Argentine’s summer wish list.
It remains unclear which goalscorer would be on top of Pochettino‘s list, but 90min mentions that Chelsea have already worked on recruiting Napoli ace Osimhen.

Interestingly, 90min previously claimed that Chelsea remained confident that they could sign Osimhen without the allure of Champions League football next season. The Blues were said to believe that they could outbid the competition.
The club’s newly-established sporting department, led by co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, is likely behind the reported move for the leading Serie A goalscorer.
There is a possibility that Pochettino’s expected arrival might alter Chelsea’s summer plans, but it is hard to imagine any manager who would not want Osimhen in their team.
However, the biggest problem is the expected cost of bringing Osimhen to Stamford Bridge.
Napoli will reportedly demand a fee north of £100million for their star striker. This would at least be a large chunk of the budget that Pochettino might be given this summer.
The obvious alternative option is to integrate Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan, into the first team.
Lukaku did not really fit into Thomas Tuchel’s plans before, but he could prove effective under Pochettino.
