Chelsea might have to fight off Newcastle United for the signature of Youssoufa Moukoko.

According to the Evening Standard, Newcastle have verbally approached the Borussia Dortmund youngster with a lucrative offer.

The Magpies have reportedly swooped in with a £150,000-a-week proposal, as they now want to land the German international.

Agree to this deal, and Moukoko would become the club’s highest-paid player, ahead of Bruno Guimaraes.

Guimaraes currently earns £120,000-a-week at Saint James’ Park, but would be trumped by the potential new arrival.

If Newcastle have seriously slid a major amount of money towards Dortmund, Chelsea might have to buck up their own ideas.

Newcastle United are now onto Youssoufa Moukoko

Moukoko has been heavily mentioned as a favourite of the Stamford Bridge chain of command in the past few months.

His talents have understandably made him an enticing prospect for the Premier League sides.

Not to mention he is out of contract in the summer, with all the signs pointing towards his exit from the Bundesliga club.

Barcelona are also said to be in the race for the 18-year-old , meaning Chelsea may be forced to battle another big name in this transfer tussle.

Whilst Todd Boehly could extend the same amount of money as Newcastle, it might not go down well with certain members of Graham Potter’s squad.

Receiving £150k-a-week would push Moukoko above the likes of Thiago Silva, Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount, all far more established than the teenager.

Edouard Mendy would also be outranked by the youthful striker, a position he certainly doesn’t want to be in considering he’d like a new contract.
