Sergio Aguero has responded to the news that Raheem Sterling has become Chelsea’s first signing of the summer.

The Blues finally announced the £47.5m deal yesterday, after weeks of speculation that the winger had been targeted by Thomas Tuchel in particular.

The 27-year-old’s minutes dropped drastically in the past two seasons, with competition from the likes of Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus making it difficult to establish himself as a guaranteed starter.

This is despite becoming a regular source of goals and assists for Manchester City, perhaps never being fully appreciated for his contribution at the Etihad.

This view appears to be held by former teammate Sergio Aguero, who took to Instagram to wish the best to Sterling ahead of the move.

Aguero’s heartfelt message to Sterling

He said on his Instagram story: “Good luck my friend. Believe in yourself bro, you are top class.”

The pair won multiple Premier League trophies together, as well as a whole host of domestic cups.

Blues fans will be hoping Chelsea’s newest signing will be the catalyst for their own trophy haul, with Tuchel set to be trusting the winger with responsibility of leading the club’s frontline.

The current crop of Blues players are excited by the prospect of the England international joining them this season, with international teammate Mason Mount highlighting his leadership skills as a trait he will be bringing to the squad.

It has been reported that it is unlikely Sterling will be present for the club’s first friendly on their US pre-season tour against Club America at the weekend.

However, with the hopes the manager has for the 27-year-old, it is likely to not be long before he is seen in Chelsea blue.
