Chelsea’s youngster has reportedly seen a potential transfer to Spain collapse in the final moments.

It’s been a very busy summer transfer window at Stamford Bridge, especially on Friday’s deadline day. There were plenty of movers yesterday finding new clubs, but not everybody got the transfer they were seeking.

Blues striker Armando Broja completed a last-minute move to Everton on loan, plus Djordje Petrovic joined Strasbourg on loan for the season.

In terms of incomings, Chelsea reportedly got a season-long loan deal for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho over the line, although there’s still been no official confirmation. Journalist Ben Jacobs claims via X that Chelsea have an obligation to buy Sancho for £25m.

Getafe move for Alex Matos collapses

According to journalist Rahman Osman via X, Spanish top-flight club Getafe agreed a deal to sign Chelsea’s Alex Matos on deadline day.

However, the 19-year-old youngster’s move to Spain has fallen through because the transfer wasn’t registered in time with La Liga.

The Athletic reported earlier this week that Matos was expected to leave Chelsea before the window closed, either permanently or on loan.

If Chelsea players still want to leave in the coming days, the only major leagues with their windows still open are in the Netherlands, Portugal, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Frustration for Alex Matos

Matos, the teenage Chelsea midfielder, enjoyed a successful loan spell in the second half of last season with Championship club Huddersfield Town. He must have been desperate to build upon that this campaign in senior football, too.

Mauricio Pochettino called Matos “talented” last year via Guardian Series, so his proposed switch to La Liga comes as no surprise. However, his future is now very much up in the air after a transfer to Spain failed on deadline day.

Let’s wait and see what Chelsea have planned for the youngster as a solution.
