Before Xabi Alonso’s appointment, Cesc Fabregas was linked with becoming the next Chelsea manager. Now, the former Blues midfielder is clearly looking at Chelsea as a new scouting pool.
It could have easily been Fabregas as manager at Stamford Bridge this summer, calling the shots. Yet, it is Alonso, and now, Fabregas could end up raiding Chelsea. Trevoh Chalobah was the first eyed by Como.
Is Mamadou Sarr ready for his Premier League debut?
The ambitious Italian side are shopping in a higher market this summer after finishing in the Champions League places. Given the location, it makes a move to the Serie A side a very enticing proposition.
Chelsea want £35m for Chalobah, but Como have offered £25m, and now Chalobah is expected to join Inter Milan. Then, there was tentative interest in another Chelsea defender, this time Tosin Adarabioyo.
Fabregas eyes third Chelsea player as connection being used
Tosin is a candidate to leave this summer, given Chelsea’s wealth of options in the middle of defence. However, there are some reports suggesting that Alonso may keep Tosin due to his leadership skills.

Indeed, one of Alonso’s main tasks this summer will be getting Cole Palmer back to his best form, and keeping the England star’s best mate at Stamford Bridge is key. Now, Fabregas wants another Blue.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr is also on Fabregas’ radar going into the summer. Senegal star Sarr has just been knocked out of the World Cup without playing a single minute.
Romano reports that Sarr is a potential loan option for Como: “If it were not possible to reach Chalobah, Como might turn to Mamadou Sarr, a defender who is very much liked by the Larian club.”
Como seem to have lost out in their bid to sign Chalobah, with Inter winning the race. Chelsea may look to keep Tosin, making an exit for Sarr the likeliest of the three from Como’s point of view this summer.
What to do with Mamadou Sarr this summer?
A year after his move to Strasbourg in 2024, Chelsea signed Sarr. He remained on loan with the Ligue 1 club but was recalled in January by Liam Rosenior, reuniting with the former Strasbourg boss in London.
Did Rosenior make a mistake handing Sarr his first Champions League start in THIS scenario?
But he managed just six appearances in the second half of the season, including a humiliation when used at right-back in the second leg against PSG. Sarr, 20, has struggled with the competition at Chelsea.
Given he has a contract until 2033, a loan is likely for Sarr, with a new signing at centre-back also likely. It is too early to throw Sarr on the scrapheap, but a loan to a club where he will play regularly makes sense.
If Sarr were to play week in, week out at Como under Fabregas, then it is a move that all parties should be content with. Whether Fabregas pushes on for Sarr, with Chalobah set for Inter, remains to be seen.
