Chelsea supporters, especially those who were at the Amex on Friday, will be desperate to see the club sign new defenders.

Enzo Maresca‘s men were awful in their defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, losing 3-0.

Levi Colwill was particularly poor, while the Blues are still without Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile because of injury.

It shows that Chelsea may have to sign at least one new central defender in the summer. However, they look set to miss out on one of their targets.

David Hancko says yes to Juventus transfer

Feyenoord’s David Hancko, who helped the Dutch side win the 2023 Eredivisie title, is one centre-back who is thought to be on Chelsea’s radar.

It was recently reported that both Chelsea and Liverpool are targeting Hancko as they look to strengthen their backlines.

However, according to Tuttomercatoweb, the 27-year-old has already given Juventus his approval over a summer transfer.

Hancko is not the only centre-half who is being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. Marc Guehi and Dean Huijsen also appear to be Chelsea targets.

David Hancko shuts out Joao Felix and AC Milan

Hancko has not played in England yet, but he got to take on footballers with Premier League experience in Feyenoord’s recent Champions League play-off tie against AC Milan.

Joao Felix, who joined Milan from Chelsea at the end of the last transfer window, Christian Pulisic and Kyle Walker all started the game, showing the strength of Sergio Conceicao’s side.

Nevertheless, Hancko was still able to shutout Felix and his teammates as Feyenoord went on to win 1-0.

The Slovak had quite a solid game, making four tackles and winning all five of his ground duels.

Chelsea reportedly looked at Hancko last month, but no deal was agreed. They still appear to be looking at him, but with Juventus having seemingly made their move already, the Blues need to act quickly if they still want to bring him to west London this summer.

Whether it is Hancko or someone else, Maresca could probably do with another central defender for the 2025/26 season.
