Tyrique George enjoyed a breakthrough year into Chelsea’s first team last season. Could he now continue his development away from Stamford Bridge, though?

Tyrique George, 19, is yet another talented youngster to come out of the Chelsea academy.

The English attacker played 26 senior matches for the Blues last term, scoring three goals and creating five assists. It is a big ask for the teenager to nail down a regular first-team spot, though.

Reports claim that George is ‘likely’ to leave Chelsea on loan this summer to enjoy more minutes elsewhere.

RB Leipzig keen on Tyrique George

Matt Law reports in The Telegraph that RB Leipzig are interested in signing Chelsea youngster George, along with teammates Armando Broja and Carney Chukwuemeka.

The two European clubs appear to be intertwined in this summer window, starting with the fact that Leipzig’s Xavi Simons is heavily linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge. On top of that, Broja appeared on Leipzig’s radar a couple of weeks ago. Also, Leipzig have pushed to sign Chukwuemeka during the conversations around Simons.

It’s intriguing to hear that the Bundesliga club are considering George as a transfer option, too.

Law has further explained that Chelsea view Leipzig as an “interesting” home for George to play his football in the new season.

Speaking on The London Is Blue Podcast, Law said: “Leipzig like Tyrique and are interested in a loan. That could be an interesting option. I think Chelsea would quite like that. They want to see Tyrique George go out on loan and play somewhere where he will play a lot of minutes.”

Back in April, Levi Colwill called George an “amazing” player, insisting that he’s not at Chelsea just to sit on the bench.

While we are confident the young left-winger has an exciting future ahead of him, his development could be fast-tracked with a loan spell in the 2025/26 campaign. Incidentally, the German Bundesliga has been a great league recently to allow youngsters to play and grow.

Chelsea’s options in wide areas for the 2025/26 season

The wide players are absolutely crucial to the success of Enzo Maresca’s team, so they need a strong crop of wingers at their disposal.

Even if George does leave on loan, Chelsea would still be left with Estevao Willian, Pedro Neto and Jamie Gittens as skilful wingers. We’ve seen Cole Palmer can be world-class when operating from a wide role, too. The final piece of the jigsaw could be Leipzig playmaker Simons if that deal can be wrapped up.

In the long term, Chelsea could have a much more complete player in George if he’s played more first-team football.
