The future of Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson feels like a significant talking point this summer.
Nicolas Jackson, 24, has been the clear first-choice striker at Chelsea across the previous two seasons. However, the dynamic of the Blues attack looks quite different following the recent arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap to the squad.
Reports in June claimed that Jackson is no longer viewed as ‘untouchable’ at Chelsea and could end up leaving this summer because his future is in doubt. Apparently, intermediaries have been gauging interest in Jackson as the player could end up third choice next season in West London.
Jackson is open to joining Manchester United amid links with a potential switch to Old Trafford.
However, contrasting reports state that Jackson wants to stay at Chelsea, where he’s still under contract until 2033. The Senegal international believes he can rediscover his best form if he stays in Enzo Maresca’s squad, too.

Nicolas Jackson would rather leave Chelsea
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack that Jackson’s preference is to leave Chelsea in this current summer transfer window.
He’s explained that despite suggestions that the 24-year-old frontman wants to stay put, it is in fact the opposite, and the player’s representatives are pushing out positive ‘PR’ in case no transfer happens.
Phillips adds that Jackson would be content to stay if he has no opportunity to depart, but he would prefer to find a new home.
In addition, Chelsea are happy to sell Jackson, but they want £65m at the very least.

The reality is that Jackson has done quite well for Chelsea so far during two years at the club. He’s still yet to kick on and develop into a world-class striker, though.

While we do feel like Jackson could be a successful part of the Blues squad next season, it doesn’t feel like he would start it in the best starting line-up. At the moment, Pedro should go into next year with all the momentum after a sensational impact at the Club World Cup tournament.
Jason Cundy has suggested Jackson will leave Chelsea to go and play regularly elsewhere because it would be quite a shock from an automatic starter to a third-choice option.
