When Chelsea could finally make offer to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Man United, ‘that’s the plan’

Despite signing Jamie Gittens and closing in on Xavi Simons, Chelsea are still interested in Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

Right now, their focus is on Simons. Chelsea remain in talks with RB Leipzig over a deal for the 22-year-old, who can start on the left.

The left flank is where Gittens also plays, while Tyrique George is another option for Enzo Maresca if he is not loaned out this summer.

Chelsea, though, could still bring in Garnacho from United before the transfer window closes.

Chelsea could make offer for Alejandro Garnacho in ‘final weeks’ of transfer window

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Chelsea’s interest in the 21-year-old.

According to Romano, while Simons remains the Blues’ priority, they will consider making a move for Garnacho towards the end of the transfer window.

On his YouTube channel, he said: “First step, go for Xavi Simons, negotiations advanced with Leipzig, and then second step, consider Garnacho as an opportunity for the final weeks of the window. So that’s the plan for Chelsea.”

A lot has been said about Garnacho over this past year, especially about the player’s character. However, Chelsea are not writing him off.

It has been claimed that Chelsea are doing background checks on Garnacho so that they can hear for themselves what his character is really like.

It remains to be seen whether the Argentina international ends up at Stamford Bridge or not, but he looks certain to leave United this summer.

Why Manchester United will be annoyed with Chelsea amid Alejandro Garnacho interest

Chelsea’s plan to possibly move for Garnacho later in the window does not do his current employers any favours.

It was reported that United wanted to sell Garnacho before August, but that is not going to happen now as Chelsea and others wait around.

When the former Atletico Madrid player eventually does leave, he could go for a very reasonable fee. There is a belief among clubs that Garnacho may cost just £40m, which could prove to be a bargain later down the line.

He is a wide man with a lot of talent and potential and still just 21 years of age. If Chelsea do not hear anything bad back about his character, it would not be a surprise if they signed him at this point.
