January is generally a peculiar period for Chelsea.

Whilst the action comes thick and fast on the field, there is plenty of entertainment off it.

Mainly the drama involves transfers, with rumours circling the club with unrelenting regularity.

Whether it be players incoming or departing, Stamford Bridge rarely has a silent start to the year.

From the sounds of it, Todd Boehly could be a busy boy after Christmas, and has already presented fans with a few presents.

Todd is on a role

He is reportedly eyeing up several more gifts for supporters to unwrap, Josko Gvardiol, Dusan Vlahovic and Youssoufa Moukoko to name a few.

But new arrivals are not the only order of business.

Several of Graham Potter’s squad will be eyeing up a move next month, as they sense a changing of the guard is upon them.

Edouard Mendy and Christian Pulisic have both been tipped to potentially set sail from South West London.

However, one man above the rest is arguably in the best position to demand a new footballing destination.

An unhappy Hakim Ziyech

Hakim Ziyech hasn’t truly looked settled since the day he set foot at Chelsea in the summer of 2020.

Aside from a few flashes of brilliance, and the odd purple patch, it’s been two-years of relative mediocrity for the Moroccan.

Ziyech has regularly read his name in the papers following that £33m exchange with Ajax, linking him to an exit from Cobham.

Yet, this time the whispers about his future feel very solid.

The 29-year-old is apparently prepared to end his frustrating Chelsea career and add another team to his CV.

Very few would get in the way of the attacker’s desire to change setting, especially after the way he approached the World Cup.

Morocco’s epic run to the semi-final was largely orchestrated by Ziyech.

He looked an entirely different figure in Qatar than the one Chelsea followers have been used to.

His seven starts in the competition is five more than he’s managed in the Premier League this season.

If ever the moment was right to leave the Blues, it is now.

Due to his displays on the international stage, there shouldn’t be a shortage of suitors for Ziyech in January.
