A lot of reports are linking Chelsea to the addition of a new striker before the transfer window shuts in the next few days.

Yesterday it was reported that the Blues had made a move to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford, with him previously being seen as a top target for the club.

Clinton Morrison has stated he thinks Toney would be a great addition for the Blues, and many believe his style of play would be the perfect compliment for Enzo Maresca’s system.

There are still links with Napoli star Victor Osimhen, however a deal for the England international feels as if it will be far more achievable than the Serie A man.

Talk has already begun where a new striker will fit in at Stamford Bridge, with there being plenty of competition for places in the attack for the Blues.

Here’s how The Chelsea Chronicle believe the side could lineup if Toney is brought in this week.

Chelsea XI if they sign Ivan Toney

Goalkeeper: Robert Sanchez

Right-back: Reece James

Centre-back: Wesley Fofana

Centre-back: Levi Colwill

Left-back: Marc Cucurella

Midfield: Enzo Fernandez

Midfield: Moises Caicedo

Ahead of the well-established midfield duo, the 6-2 win over Wolves proved if anything that Cole Palmer’s best role is central. After featuring briefly together for England at the European Championships, the duo could combine for plenty of goals at Stamford Bridge.

On the right, Noni Madueke has enjoyed a really strong start to the season and is continuing to prove that his future should very much be in West London. Madueke’s work-rate was praised at the weekend too, with him showing serious improvement in his game.

On the opposite side, it looks as if it won’t take long for Pedro Neto to surpass Mykhailo Mudryk as the regular starter on the left. Providing he maintains his fitness, there is serious excitement over the addition of Neto.

Linking it all together up top, Toney will be feasting on the newfound creative talent surrounding him, with there being a serious opportunity for him to top his own goal records in the Premier League.
