Chelsea target and Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap is almost certain to be on the market this summer.
Ipswich are on the verge of getting relegated while Delap continues to attract interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Enzo Maresca is really pushing for Delap, and the 22-year-old has a £30m release clause in his contract that will become active once Kieran McKenna’s side are relegated.
However, Chelsea may still need to pay a bit more than that to get Delap out of Portman Road this summer.

Chelsea and Todd Boehly could repeat Nicolas Jackson transfer with Liam Delap
Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton want to sign Delap when the transfer window opens.
It is no surprise given his form this season and his release clause. In 32 Premier League appearances, the Englishman has scored 12 goals.
According to the Daily Mail, though, there are other fees connected to the deal that could see Delap’s next club pay more than £30m to sign him.
In the past, Chelsea have offered more than a player’s actual release clause to structure the deal differently.
For example, when the Blues signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal in 2023, they paid slightly above his release clause to get more beneficial payment terms within the structure of the deal, according to The Guardian.
Perhaps Todd Boehly and Co could now do something similar with Delap as they look to bring the England U21 international to Stamford Bridge.
Whatever happens, Delap will still cost less than Hugo Ekitike, another centre-forward Chelsea are currently targeting.
Eintracht Frankfurt are demanding £86m for Ekitike, which could price the French youngster out of a move this summer.

Where Liam Delap wants to play next season
The good news for Chelsea is that Delap is very likely to remain in England after Ipswich’s relegation.
It has been claimed that Delap is keen to stay in the Premier League. Of course, Chelsea will have to see off competition from United, but there is no reason why they cannot.
The Blues are in a much better position than their rivals and are not relying on winning a competition to qualify for the Champions League.

Finish in the top five, and Chelsea should be able to beat United to Delap’s signature in the upcoming transfer window.
