Cole Palmer scored a penalty in Chelsea’s 4-2 win against Brighton & Hove Albion over the weekend.
It was the 10th consecutive spot-kick that Cole Palmer had dispatched for Chelsea, showing just how efficient the attacking midfielder is from 12 yards out.
Scoring a penalty was not Palmer’s only contribution against Brighton, though. The 22-year-old, of course, bagged three more goals, including a stunning free-kick.
Palmer is now “streets ahead” of Jude Bellingham, according to beIN SPORTS presenter Richard Keys.

Cole Palmer’s penalty technique
Despite being so deadly from the spot, Palmer has revealed that he does not actually have a special penalty technique.
In a Q&A with Shoot, the Englishman said: “I honestly don’t even have one! I just put the ball down on the spot, step back and shoot! A couple of times I changed my mind as I ran up.
“I did miss one in the FA Youth Cup final with City against Liverpool. I was gutted because we should have won.”
Palmer is now being compared to Eden Hazard, a Chelsea legend, as he continues to shine in a blue shirt.
Cole Palmer more than a penalty merchant
A lot of Palmer’s goals have come from the penalty spot since he joined Chelsea from Manchester City last year.
However, there is so much more to his game than simply putting penalties away. The England international, for example, is also a very good playmaker.
This season, Palmer has already registered four assists in the Premier League. Last term, he recorded 11.
“Doesn’t waste any pass,” Steve Nicol highlighted when speaking about Palmer. Again, then, Palmer is anything but a penalty merchant. When you look at his all-round game, he is actually a complete attacker.
The former City man can score, assist, pass and dribble. According to WhoScored, no player in Chelsea’s squad averaged more dribbles per game than Palmer (1.6) last season.
His numbers during that campaign were truly impressive and he is on course to reach similar figures this term, especially if he continues to put his penalties away.
If Chelsea do not qualify for the Champions League, though, then everything that Palmer is doing right now will go to waste. Finishing in the top four has to be the bare minimum for Enzo Maresca‘s men.
