Chelsea supporters have been left not too convinced by one position so far this season under the new manager.

Robert Sanchez has remained inconsistent between the sticks this season, with his passing radar way off last time out against Newcastle United.

Chelsea fans in Stamford Bridge showed frustration at Sanchez on the ball during their win, however he has kept the backing of Enzo Maresca so far.

The manager was seen encouraging Sanchez from the side during the home game on Sunday, as he looked to continue to get him playing the way he desires.

Enzo Maresca not prepared to drop Robert Sanchez

There have been questions arising as to whether a change is in order in goal at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues signing Filip Jorgensen over the summer.

However, Maresca has stated that he at this stage has no plans to do so, with Sanchez firmly still the number one at the club.

He said to Kieran Gill: “No. At the moment, the No 1 is Robert Sanchez. Filip is doing fantastic in the Carabao Cup, the Conference League. But at the moment, there is no doubt Robert is the No 1.”

It has been claimed Chelsea have hopes that Jorgensen can prove himself to be a key player soon, despite the fact he is yet to feature in the Premier League since joining.

Jorgensen forced to earn his minutes in Chelsea cup games

Instead, the Danish star has been forced to earn his stripes in the cup competitions up to now.

Reports have stated that Jorgensen is in line to start tonight against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup, with a quarter-final place in the competition up for grabs.

It is likely to be a heavily rotated side, with the likes of Christopher Nkunku also regularly making their mark in the cup games so far this season.

Jorgensen will be looking to put the pressure on both Maresca and Sanchez with another good display tonight.
