Moises Caicedo came to Chelsea’s rescue the last time they played to earn them a draw away to Manchester United in the Premier League.
Chelsea recorded a 1-1 draw on Sunday during their weekend visit to Old Trafford, which is a result that puts them fourth in the league table.
Moises Caicedo, 23, stole the headlines with a remarkable equalising goal. His first goal of the season was an outrageous volley from outside the penalty box.
Alan Shearer claims Caicedo is quickly improving as a Chelsea player, and it’s fair to say that his form looks incredible during this second season at Stamford Bridge.

Gabriel Agbonlahor claims Moises Caicedo just enjoyed best Chelsea performance
TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor waxed lyrical about Chelsea’s Caicedo after his eye-catching performance against Man United. In fact, he said that it was the defensive midfielder’s best display for the Blues.
When discussing Caicedo’s contribution at Old Trafford, Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “That’s probably the best performance against Manchester United I have seen him have since he moved to Chelsea. That was the performance that we saw at Brighton week in week out.
“He was everywhere. He was hunting down everyone on that pitch and the amount of fouls that were given, I didn’t think were fouls. They were great tackles from Caicedo. He was unlucky and deservedly scored an outstanding goal. That is a hard technique. To take that looping ball, let it hit you and then smash that into the bottom corner, that is not an easy technique. Very tough. Looks easy, but it’s not. So to cap an all-round outstanding performance from Caicedo, he gets an outstanding goal as well.”
Micah Richards says Caicedo has rediscovered his confidence at Chelsea, showing the kind of form he did at former club Brighton before his transfer to west London in the summer of 2023.
Interestingly, Troy Deeney agreed Caicedo’s performance at Man United was his best for Chelsea.
Moises Caicedo emerging as Chelsea talisman
It’s pretty obvious that everyone relies on Cole Palmer in the Chelsea squad to produce the attacking magic on a consistent basis, but there’s a compelling case to be made that Caicedo is now the heartbeat of the side.
WhoScored does rank Caicedo as Chelsea’s second highest rated player in the Premier League so far this season.
| Player | Average match rating |
| Cole Palmer | 7.70 |
| Moises Caicedo | 7.23 |
| Nicolas Jackson | 7.22 |
| Noni Madueke | 7.21 |
| Jadon Sancho | 7.03 |
Caicedo, who covers every blade of grass, is up and down from midfield for 90 minutes every game. His growing partnership alongside Romeo Lavia is a big bonus for Chelsea, too.
The Ecuador international is finally giving a glimpse into why the Blues coughed up a mammoth £115m transfer fee to bring him to the club.
