Ramires names the current Chelsea player who’s very ‘similar’ to him, it’s not Moises Caicedo

Former Chelsea midfielder Ramires is a huge fan of one player who is currently part of Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Maresca has a talented group of footballers, and that was evident at this year’s Club World Cup.

Chelsea won the tournament after beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final, with Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro the goalscorers on the day. Pedro is impressing many, despite having just arrived at the club, netting three times in the US.

However, the Brazilian is not Ramires’ favourite Chelsea player at the moment, neither is Palmer nor Moises Caicedo. Instead, it is another Chelsea star, who has a similar style to Ramires, according to the man himself.

Ramires sees similarities between him and Enzo Fernandez

During his playing career, Ramires showed a lot of energy on the pitch and was not afraid to make a tackle, just like Caicedo.

However, Enzo Fernandez is the Chelsea player he has compared himself to, partly because of the way the Argentine arrives in the box.

While Ramires did a lot of dirty work for his Chelsea team, he was also capable of popping up with a big goal, something Fernandez has been doing of late.

In an interview with X user Darko_Baba, Ramires said: “The current team has a lot of talent, but I really like Enzo Fernandez, perhaps because I see in him a style similar to mine, with grit, strong tackling, and arriving in attack.

“He’s a young player, but with personality, game vision, and a lot of technical quality. He has everything to continue being a reference in Chelsea’s midfield for many years.”

Fernandez certainly played his part in Chelsea winning the Club World Cup, finishing the tournament with an impressive four goal contributions to his name.

And so did Robert Sanchez, who left Fernandez in awe after his contribution in the final.

How Ramires reacted to Chelsea’s win against PSG in Club World Cup final

Ramires left Stamford Bridge almost 10 years ago, but Chelsea are still a club close to his heart.

That was evident after Ramires posted a video of him celebrating one of Palmer’s goals against PSG in the Club World Cup final.

It was not an honour Ramires managed to win at Chelsea after the Blues lost the 2012 Club World Cup final to Corinthians. However, he was able to get his hands on the Champions League trophy earlier that year.
