Tony Cascarino is not too impressed with one striker who has been linked to Chelsea.
In the last few transfer windows, Chelsea have reportedly showed interest in the likes of Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.
Evan Ferguson is another name that they have also been linked with. In fact, it has been claimed that Chelsea will scout Ferguson this season.
The 19-year-old has made three appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion in the current campaign, failing to find the back of the net so far.

Tony Cascarino criticises Evan Ferguson
Right now, Cascarino does not look to be Ferguson’s biggest fan. While the former Chelsea player acknowledges that the forward has had injuries, he still thinks he has regressed as a footballer, nevertheless.
Discussing Ferguson on talkSPORT, Cascarino said (12/10/2024 at 07:12): “I will tell you one player I want to mention because he was a £100 million player this time last year that Brighton were apparently going to, you know, there had been offers from all over, he has gone nearly a year without a goal — Evan Ferguson.
“I know he had injuries, I know he had injuries, but where he was, and I watched him probably half a dozen times in the last year, and every game I have come away thinking, ‘Wow, it looks like he has gone a little bit backwards’. I think it’s a big moment for Evan Ferguson.
“Yes, he has played Premier League games for Brighton this season, but it feels like he needs to get back on the treadmill of getting goals and putting in performances that people talk about and he hasn’t quite got going. He has been a real disappointment for someone that was so highly rated as a teenager.
“He has loads of time. And he has had injuries. I am being a little bit unfair. He has had injuries as well during that period of time that would have hindered him and set him back, but it just feels like he has not quite got his game together at the moment. Hopefully, he can.”
In the past, it has been claimed that Brighton value Ferguson at over £100m. However, the Seagulls will not get a fee anywhere close to that amid his lack of form.
Should Chelsea sign Evan Ferguson?
At 19, Ferguson certainly has a lot of potential, and watchers of the Premier League saw that at times last season.
For example, he scored a hat-trick against Newcastle United at the start of that campaign. However, since then, his form has really dropped off.
Ferguson has actually not scored a Premier League goal since last November. If he is going to cost £100m, then Chelsea need to stay far away, especially while Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku remain at the club.
Jackson and Nkunku have been on fire this season, scoring 11 goals combined in all competitions.
Enzo Maresca should unleash Nkunku against Liverpool after the international break, but he has put a lot of trust in Jackson this term.
That trust makes Chelsea signing a 19-year-old striker for ridiculous money seem very unlikely. Ferguson will not be on the move for the time being as he looks to get his career back on track.
