28-year-old Chelsea player tops the Premier League in his position for one statistic after Bournemouth win

Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga has the best save percentage in the Premier League for goalkeepers with at least two appearances.

Yesterday saw the Spain international return to the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge after injury ruled him out of the final few games before the World Cup.

The fixture against Bournemouth saw the Blues return to picking up clean sheets, despite Graham Potter electing to select a back four in front of him instead of the usual five.

Kepa continued to play his part too. The 28-year-old made four saves to help preserve the first half lead Kai Havertz and Mason Mount had given them.

Those stops saw his total go up to 26 for the season, despite only playing in seven Premier League games.

Kepa tops save stats

A percentage of 83.9% sees him top the stat for the entire league, a statement of just how far he has come in the last few months.

After being an afterthought at Stamford Bridge pretty much since the Blues signed Edouard Mendy, it looked as if the big money Maurizio Sarri signing was on his way out of West London.

Now though, it is reports of the Senegal international leaving the club that are far more prevalent.

It has been claimed that Mendy has rejected a new long-term contract to stay at Chelsea, perhaps a statement of where he sees himself in the pecking order in the goalkeeper position.

Despite Kepa’s recent brilliance, rumours still suggest that Potter is willing to strengthen between the sticks at the end of the season.

It has been claimed that he is keen on a reunion with Brighton’s Robert Sanchez, who was recently seen as part of the Spain squad at the World Cup ahead of Chelsea’s own Spaniard.
