Chelsea are still looking for a striker, but one of their reported targets could soon be off the market.
Right now, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen appears to be Chelsea‘s priority. However, Chelsea’s sporting directors don’t want to move for Osimhen just yet.
Time is running out, though, and bringing the 25-year-old in is not going to be an easy deal. Napoli value their talisman highly — inserting a huge release clause into his contract — so will not let him go for cheap.
It means Chelsea may have to turn to an alternative and already appear to have one, though he could be about to join another club.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney weighing up Al-Ahli move
As well as Osimhen, Chelsea also seem to have Brentford’s Ivan Toney on their radar.
According to TEAMtalk, the Blues have contacted their west London rivals about signing the 28-year-old ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.
TEAMtalk’s report claims that Brentford want around £50m for Toney, which makes him an affordable target for Chelsea, but it also says that the England international is going to decide this week whether to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank was expecting Toney to stay, but with Al-Ahli, who can offer big wages, and Chelsea circling, his confidence has probably shrunk.
Chelsea prioritised Joao Felix
To help facilitate Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico Madrid, Chelsea prioritised signing Joao Felix over the likes of Toney and Osimhen.
However, Toney and Osimhen really should have been at the top of the Blues’ list at the start of the transfer window.
It has been clear for a while now that they need another centre-forward. Last season, the team relied heavily on Nicolas Jackson, who played 44 times and was not the most clinical player.
That lack of cutting edge has already been seen in the new campaign after he missed a couple of good chances against Manchester City last weekend. Alan Shearer wants Jackson to be shown patience, but if that is the path that Chelsea want to go down instead of signing Toney or Osimhen, then they could be in for a long season.
