Chelsea have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi, who’s a player that actually started out in their academy.
The Chelsea defence has leaked goals pretty easily recently, keeping only two clean sheets in 12 Premier League games this season. Therefore, it’s no major surprise that there’s speculation about the Blues possibly adding another defensive recruit.
Marc Guehi, 24, is tipped for a possible return to the Blues. The centre-half only played two first-team games for Chelsea before leaving to join London rivals Palace in 2021.
Journalist Graeme Bailey exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle earlier this week that Guehi is high up on Chelsea’s list of defensive targets.
Now, talkSPORT has reported on Tuesday that Chelsea are considering a swoop next summer to try re-sign Guehi from Palace. Apparently, he could be available for a cut-price fee next summer because he’ll be entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea fans react to Marc Guehi rumours
A selection of Blues supporters on social media would absolutely love to see Palace’s Guehi rejoin them in 2025 to strengthen the backline.
Here are many Chelsea fans on X that seem really keen on the idea of re-signing Guehi:
@CaicEnz0 wrote: “Fofana and Guehi as right centre-back would be elite.”
@GondaCFC posted: “This would be class.”
@CFC_OBED said: “Guehi is a very good defender, I don’t mind at all.”
@EmmerCFC shared: “He’s a very good defender, bring him in.”
@Costalinho_ claimed: “Bring him back home.”
Guehi has proven in recent years with Palace he’s a quality operator at the Premier League level. Also, he’s now got 22 senior international caps for England after breaking into the Three Lions best XI.
How would Marc Guehi transfer impact the Chelsea squad?
If Guehi did come back to Chelsea, it would surely have a significant impact on several defenders already at the club.
The Blues have plenty of high-profile centre-halves in their current first-team squad. This includes Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill as the main starting partnership, while the likes of Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and Tosin Adarabioyo provide quality cover.
Guehi joining Chelsea would surely be bad news for Disasi because he’s already slipped quite far down the pecking order.
Stephen Warnock believes Chelsea need to sign another goalkeeper and defender before they can realistically compete for the Premier League title again. Will they be prepared to bring back a youngster they previously let go, though?
