Chelsea have just been linked with a Premier League midfielder who could be available for around £30m.
If you look at the Chelsea squad, there are plenty of exciting central midfielders for Enzo Maresca to choose from.
It feels like midfield duo Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez are two of the first names on the team sheet for the Blues. In addition, they also have the likes of Romeo Lavia, Andrey Santos and Dario Essugo.
Jamie Redknapp claims there’s not a weakness to Caicedo. Therefore, any new midfield signing that hopes to break into the XI at Stamford Bridge needs to be quite special.

Chelsea join race for Brentford’s Yehor Yarmolyuk
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea have entered the race to sign Brentford midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk.
It is explained that the Blues could rival Manchester United and Tottenham to sign the 21-year-old star after making checks on him.
The report explains that Premier League outfit Brentford don’t want to sell the Ukraine international midway through the campaign when the January transfer window comes around. Apparently, when they do change their stance and are prepared to sell, he could be available for around £30m.
Yarmolyuk, who’s started seven out of seven in the Premier League so far this season, is a key player in central midfield for Brentford.
Back in September, Yarmolyuk impressed during his side’s 2-2 draw at home to Chelsea in the top flight.
| Minutes played | Accurate passes | Chances created | Successful dribbles | Tackles | Recoveries | Match rating |
| 90 | 26/33 (79%) | 1 | 3/6 (50%) | 2 | 7 | 7.2 |
Even though Chelsea have transfer funds available for January, it sounds like the Brentford talisman will be out of reach for suitors at the start of 2026.

Chelsea have a midfield shortlist
It was reported last week that Chelsea have a shortlist of midfield targets they are looking at in case Real Madrid swoop for Enzo Fernandez. Along with Brentford’s Yarmolyuk, the Blues also like Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.
Of course, Chelsea fans shouldn’t want to lose vice-captain Fernandez, who’s now racked up 125 appearances for the club.
The reality is that the turnover of the squad under this Blues ownership has been so frantic
