The Xabi Alonso exodus is incoming at Chelsea with the Spaniard set to arrive ahead of pre-season training next week, and the latest casualty could be a current World Cup star.
Alonso will inherit a squad that could consist of almost 40 players. When all of the new signings, returning loanees and World Cup players return, Chelsea will have an enormous squad preparing for 2026-27.

A squad that find themselves without the added game time of European football next season. A summer exodus is required for two reasons – the first being the need for a financial injection without Europe cash.
The second, Chelsea simply do not need such a big squad without Europe. Marc Cucurella and Jimmy-Jay Morgan have been sold, and more are expected. Trevoh Chalobah is a candidate to be sold this summer.
Inter Milan are set to sign Trevoh Chalobah as per Italian media
Chalobah was initially linked with a move for Cesc Fabregas’ Como, with Como said to have bid £25m for the England defender. However, Chelsea rate Chalobah at a fee of around £35m and are sticking to it.
It has also emerged in the last few days that Inter Milan have renewed their interest in Chalobah. A player they have considered in recent years, it was reported this week that Inter were ‘expected’ to sign him.
Now, Italian reporter Damiano Er Faina claims Chalobah and Inter have agreed a deal in which the Blues ace moves to the Nerazzurri: “Inter is about to close the deal for Chalobah, 4-year contract.”

Before Chelsea even make a signing in the middle of the defence, Alonso will have 10 options to choose from. Levi Colwill and Josh Acheampong are ‘untouchable’, while Jorrel Hato is set to stay at Chelsea.

Mamadou Sarr, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana and Chalobah are behind those three. All five have been linked with the exit door, while Axel Disasi and Aaron Anselmino will return from loans.
There is a plan in place for Anselmino, but Chelsea have offered Crystal Palace the chance to sign any of Tosin, Badiashile, Disasi or Chalobah in talks for Lacroix. Palace have rejected signing any of the four.
